Jersey Business Manager
Built for Jersey
Invoicing · GST · Payroll · ITIS · CER

Your accountant should be checking your books, not building them.

Jersey Business Manager works out your ITIS, your contributions and your quarterly figures, then prepares a summary for your accountant to review. Review time depends on your records and circumstances.

Runs on your own computer. No account to create, and once you have the file it needs no internet: nothing you enter is ever uploaded.

Most of what you pay for is sorting, not thinking

Jersey accountants describe their own work as turning a pile of invoices, receipts and bank statements into an organised set of books. That pile is the expensive part - and it is the part you can hand over already done.

How it usually goes

  • Receipts in a drawer until the deadline
  • Someone else works out the ITIS every month
  • You find out about a deadline after it passed
  • Quarterly figures rebuilt from scratch each time
  • Billed for hours spent sorting your paperwork

How it goes with this

  • Entered once, when it happens
  • ITIS and contributions calculated as you go
  • Every deadline listed with its date
  • Quarterly figures always up to date
  • Your accountant reviews, signs and moves on

Three jobs, one program

Use the parts you need. If you have no staff, the payroll screen simply sits there unused.

Getting started takes about ten minutes

Download

One file. Save it in a folder on your computer.

Open it

Double-click. It opens in Chrome or Edge. Nothing to install.

Use it free for 3 months

Everything works. Long enough to run it alongside your current system and check it agrees.

Enter a licence code

If it earns its place, activate it. Your data stays exactly as it was.

What this does not do

It does not replace your accountant. Depending on your size and turnover, Revenue Jersey may require accounts prepared by a qualified accountant. What changes is what you hand them: organised figures instead of a shoebox.

It does not file anything for you. You copy the figures onto the real return on gov.je. You stay in control, and you stay responsible for what you submit.

It is not a shared system. One computer, one person at a time. If two people need to be in the books at once, this is not the right tool and I will tell you so.

Pricing

Paid once a year. Renewal includes the January update, when Jersey revises its rates and thresholds.

Questions people ask

Where is my information kept?

On your computer, and nowhere else. There is no account to create and no server holding your data. For payroll that matters: your staff's salaries and Social Security numbers never leave the building.

I already use QuickBooks or Xero. Why this?

Those are good at bookkeeping but they are not built for Jersey. They will not produce your CER or work out ITIS at each employee's effective rate. It can prepare records for use alongside your bookkeeping software. It does not replace a full accounting system or professional review.

What if the figures are wrong?

For your first two or three months, run it alongside however you do payroll now and compare. Once the numbers agree, you can rely on it. That is the sensible way to adopt any payroll system, and it is what I recommend to everyone. It is also exactly why the free trial is three months and not one: you should be able to finish that comparison before you are asked to pay for anything.

An employee has not given me an ITIS notice.

Then you use 22%, the default rate Revenue Jersey requires until they provide one. The program prompts you for this.

What happens when the rates change in January?

Jersey revises its contribution limits and thresholds each year. Your renewal includes the updated version, so your calculations stay correct.

What if I stop paying?

The program stops letting you carry on, but nothing is deleted. Your records sit exactly where they are and come straight back if you activate again. You can also export everything at any time.

Install the app and try it

Recommended: install the web app, keep its icon and use it in its own window. Three months free; no payment card required.

Free trial · no card, no account

Open in Edge or Chrome, choose Install, then create your desktop or taskbar shortcut. Your business records stay in this browser profile; keep exported backups.

Install the app

Download the program instead — one standalone HTML file, if you would rather not install.

After the three months

Nothing is deleted. Your invoices, staff and records sit exactly where they are, and come straight back when you enter a licence code.

You can export your records even after the trial expires. If you stop using the app, keep your backups before uninstalling or clearing browser data. There is no subscription to cancel.

Alternative: using the downloaded HTML file

There is no installer and nothing is added to your computer's programs list. You get one file, and that file is the program.

1  IT LANDS IN DOWNLOADS

Your browser saves Jersey_Business_Manager.html to your Downloads folder, like any other file.

2  MOVE IT SOMEWHERE SAFE

Make a folder such as Documents\JerseyBusiness and put it there. Do not leave it in Downloads.

3  DOUBLE-CLICK IT

It opens in Chrome or Edge. To keep a desktop icon, right-click the HTML file in File Explorer and choose Show more options → Send to → Desktop (create shortcut). Keep the original file in its permanent folder.

Why the folder matters. Records are stored in this browser by default, separately from the HTML program. Export a JSON backup and keep a separate copy. Moving the HTML file, clearing browser data or changing browsers can make your records unavailable; use Import to restore your backup.
A couple of things you might see the first time.
Windows may ask whether to keep the file, because it was downloaded from the internet - choose keep. If your browser opens the file instead of saving it, right-click the download button and choose Save link as. And if it opens in a browser other than Chrome or Edge, right-click the file, choose Open with, pick Chrome or Edge and tick Always use this app.
Recommended: install the web app

Same program, same private-on-your-machine data - but it sits on your desktop with its own icon and opens in its own window, like any installed app. Keep exported backups. Browser storage and JSON backups are not encrypted by this app.

ON WINDOWS · CHROME OR EDGE

Open the app below, then click the small install icon at the right-hand end of the address bar (a screen with a downward arrow). Choose Install, then select Create desktop shortcut and Pin to taskbar when offered. If you miss these options, open edge://apps in Edge, select this app’s Details and create its shortcut. The app also includes a Desktop icon / install help button.

ON A MAC · SAFARI OR CHROME

Open the app, then in Safari choose File → Add to Dock, or in Chrome the install icon in the address bar. It appears in Launchpad.

Open the app to install it

Once installed it works offline and your three-month trial runs exactly the same. Nothing you enter ever leaves your computer.

Made in Jersey, for Jersey

Built here, for the rates, thresholds and deadlines this island actually uses - not a UK program with the numbers changed. Every figure comes from what Social Security and Revenue Jersey publish, and it is updated each January when they change.
